WTHamhock? How Time Flies

I sat down today to look at my blog and come up with something new, witty, interesting…oh, alright. I just wanted to find something to say that might be remotely informative or even mildly entertaining. I opened up my website administrator page and sat there, dumbfounded. I mean, hey, I’ve been busy with the book release and edits and revising Raising Cain and living, but I couldn’t accept I’d actually been gone two weeks! How did this happen? Was I a bad blogger? A scatterbrained author? A poor time manager? If I look closely at all of these things, I have to yes, I’ve been all of these lately. But I intend to rectify that right now.

If you keep up with me at all, you know Legacy released on October 18th from Samhain Publishing. :D  Yeah, I’m pretty excited about that. Still. Always will be. The book has been on its blog tour for a couple of weeks, keeping me busy checking in, answering reader comments and email. It doesn’t seem like much, but it takes time.

I’ve also been completing the edits for Wrath, the sequel to Legacy, which will release April 3, 2012…if I get my rear in gear and get the edits finished. Small snafu on the front side slowed the progress, but it’s sorted out and I’m chipping away at them. I should have them done very soon.

My newest novel, Raising Cain, is the first in The Key Guardians series. It’s stronger urban fantasy, and it’s a work I’m ridiculously proud of. I love those characters with a crazy passion that makes little sense unless you’ve ever fallen in love with a fictional character. If you have, whether you’ve read the story or created it, you understand. Anyway, Raising Cain has required–nay, demanded–much of my time the last ten days. Much of my time. I’ve become obsessed with editing it into its top form as it gets ready to start its journey. I’ve dedicated my waking hours to both it and Wrath, and I’m beginning to wonder who I can petition to either add more hours to the day or make time slow down or make sleep less necessary.

In between all this, I’ve been doing my best to live. It’s been a challenge, carving out the hours in the day necessary to be a wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. I’ve had to make time for me, because when life gets hard (and it has been), you need to take extra time to be gentle with yourself.

So there you have it, the rundown on my last two weeks. It may not seem like a lot, but for me? It’s epic. More on that later. For now, know that you, my readers, are at the forefront of my thoughts daily. I value you immensely. I cherish your feedback and crave your support. Nothing’s changed. I’m still here and will work on being more visible.

Wishing you a day of joy and life,

D
